Herbal Facial Steams - Get Glowing Results

The largest organ of our body is also one of the most complicated. Skin plays many roles in our lives as it is the barrier that protects the outside world from our delicate insides. It helps keep our temperature regulated, our immune system in check and it assists with vitamin production and sensation. With many layers of cells doing different jobs, they all work together to serve us well. Most people don't pay attention to their skin until an issue arises. As unique as our skin is, it demands and deserves attention.

There are more than 3000 possible skin disorders out there and with age comes a plethora of concerns such as dryness, wrinkles, sun damage and sensitivity. Herbal steams are convenient, simple and beneficial! People have been using herbs to enhance skin quality since the time of Cleopatra. The warmth of the steam helps increase circulation and increases perspiration, which helps the body eliminate toxins. Steam also helps soften acne by opening pores helping to remove the buildup of sebum. Herbal steams also help relieve stress, boost mental clarity and open airways for better respiration.

Herbs like Rosemary, Peppermint and Lavender are great for mental health. Stinging Nettle, Calendula and Helichrysum are great for pore purification and hydration. Rose Petals, Blackberry Leaf and Witch Hazel are great for tightening and moisturizing. I make an herbal facial steam with Rosemary, Peppermint, Chamomile and Rose Petals. To do a steam, all you need is a pot or bowl of steaming water, 1-2 teaspoons of herbs and a towel. Position your face over the pot or bowl and put the towel over your head. It's best if you can sit for 3-5 minutes without lifting the towel up. After you finish, rinse your face with cold water. Your skin will feel revitalized!

Treat your skin nice because it works very hard to keep you happy and healthy! Get outside and pick some fresh leaves and flowers or you can use dried ones for a quick and easy treatment that can be repeated daily or weekly.

Take good care ~
